ABOUT RORY

Named The James Joyce of the Piano by Eugen Indjic (USA) for his imaginative and insightful interpretations, Rory Dowse has become one of the most sought-after teachers in the UK and Ireland.


Featured on Discover Northern Ireland for his unique and creative programming, Belfast-born pianist Rory Dowse learned from some of the greatest pianists of our time, including Leon Fleischer (USA) and Stephen Hough (UK).


Rory's mission is to guide pianists to think outside the box by enabling them to achieve their dipABRSM or ABRSM Grade 8 and with pianistic inspiration, artistic integrity, and love for piano performance.


His pragmatic, courageous, and charismatic approach stems from his background in performance and research at the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester), The University of Manchester, Queen’s University (Belfast), and The Royal Irish Academy of Music (Dublin).

The exclusive Protégé Programme is in high demand, and offers a unique opportunity for gifted and committed learners who seek high musical achievement and who which to achieve their musical dreams.


The Protégé Programme is a is perfect for those of all ages who wish to develop their pianistic ability to the highest level - including the FRSM piano diploma - and to create quality experiences that will develop over a lifetime and for generations to come.

Current students on the programme reside in Manchester, Belfast, and Sweden. A 13-year-old student on the programme was awarded 147/150 (Distinction) in Grade 8 piano.


Others were awarded an ABRSM piano diploma, which led to increased teaching and performance opportunities.

Rory’s state-of-the-art studio offers a grand piano and the latest developments for in-person lessons in Manchester and online consultations worldwide.

Enquiries are welcome from those working towards the Diplomas or Grade 8. Those who have already attained Distinction level in ABRSM Grade 4 and above will also be considered for maximising UCAS points, as will other promising learners.
